Happy Halloween! In Aspen and Snowmass, fall is certainly in the air with crunchy leaves blanketing the sidewalks and yellow and orange foliage brightening up the mountainsides. The dramatic change in the landscape and the weather has us thinking about Halloween events in Aspen and Snowmass. Here is what you can enjoy on Halloween if you will be in the valley.

Family Trick or Treating

Trick or treating is a fun activity for the whole family. Kids get to dress up, run around in their crazy costumes, and collect candy. And for parents, they can enjoy spending quality time with the whole family, and a nice walk in a beautiful mountain town on a crisp fall day.

One of the most popular trick or treating spots in Aspen is the North 40 neighborhood in the Aspen Airport Business Center. This small, residential neighborhood is bustling with young families, so on Halloween, expect a lively and exciting trick or treating experience.

Belly Up

Head to the Belly Up in downtown Aspen for their annual Halloween celebration. Get in the Halloween spirit by dressing up in a fun costume, and enter the costume contest for a chance to win tickets to Belly Up shows and gift certificates for local restaurants. The Belly Up bash will feature the band Danger Kitty, a rock band hailing from Upstate New York.

Caribou Club

If you have always wanted to go to one of Aspen’s most exclusive clubs, then Halloween night is the night, as the Caribou Club will open their doors to the public. Don a fun Halloween costume, and head to the Club for what should be an unforgettable dance party.

The Snowmass Balloon Festival takes flight from September 12 – 14, 2014 in Snowmass Village! Now in its 39th year, the Snowmass Balloon Festival is an annual fall event that showcases the colorful and bright hot air balloons of enthusiasts and balloonists from all over the Rocky Mountain region and the United States.

The schedule of events for this year’s fest includes a three hour hot air balloon race, a stunning coordinated morning launch called the SnowMASS Ascension, and an evening event on Snowmass Mountain called Night Glow.

The Night Glow event is scheduled for Saturday, September 13 from 7:45 – 9:00 pm, and will be held on Fanny Hill. This free and family-friendly event will feature a hot air balloon “glow show”, live music, food, and beverages.

If you and the family are planning attending the fest, keep an eye out for one hot air balloon. Bearing the Colorado flag, “Colorado High” is a balloon piloted by seasoned balloonist Patrick Carter that has been in every Snowmass Balloon Festival to date.
