The place to go while visiting the Aspen Snowmass area for free music in a spectacular outdoor venue is Snowmass Village for the Snowmass Thursday night concerts. Produced by Jazz Aspen Snowmass, the free Thursday night concert series in Snowmass Village is held on Fanny Hill on Snowmass Mountain just at the end of the Snowmass Village Mall. These free Snowmass concerts run from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. If planning an evening picnic with friends and family at the concert venue, head over to Fanny Hill early to secure a prime spot near the stage. Bring along blankets, a picnic dinner, warm jackets, and dancing shoes. Beverages, snacks, and more can be purchased at vendors' booths located on Fanny Hill. These Snowmass free concerts run throughout the entire summer season, with the last concert on Thursday, August 15. The line up of bands and musicians includes a wide variety of musical genres and influences from New Orleans rock and roll to funk to bluegrass and more. On July 18, Mountain Standard Time will take to the Fanny Hill stage, and showcase their unique style of bluegrass music that fuses electronic sounds alongside traditional bluegrass instruments. The final July concert will feature J. Boog on July 25, whose Samoan heritage infuses his music with a rhythmic island sound. On August 1, Tab Benoit is scheduled to perform as part of the Snowmass Thursday night concert series. Hailing from Louisiana, Benoit learned to play the blues early on, and since then, has created a unique Cajun-inspired blues sound. Soul musician Nigel Hall will dominate the stage on August 8 with his powerful voice and deep passion for soul tunes. The final Thursday night concert of the season will be on August 15, and feature Robert Walter's 20th Congress. A virtuoso keyboardist, Robert Walter plays and composes instrumental soul jazz with his band. The Snowmass summer of free concerts on Fanny Hill are one of the best ways to spend a Thursday evening in the Aspen Snowmass area. Concert-goers enjoy a free concert in a beautiful outdoor concert venue, watch the sunset over the Roaring Fork Valley, and dance the night away on Fanny Hill.
