On December 19 from 4:30–7:00PM, Anderson Ranch Arts Center hosts their annual Holiday Open House. Visit each of the campus studios, see work in progress, chat art with artists and faculty, and check out the current exhibition. Also, enjoy a special holiday dinner at the Ranch Cafè, and visit the ArtWorks Gift Store, where you can snack on cookies and coffee while viewing jewelry by local artist Caitlin Dunn.
There's a new mural to check out at Elk Camp Restaurant this winter! Part of the Aspen Art Museum's Art in Unexpected Places initiative, the Elk Camp mural received an update by Sarah Cain. She's a painter who's more accustomed to creating outdoor murals rather than indoor ones. In some ways, this is what makes Cain's work intriguing, as she takes outdoor art in — and on a mountain to boot!
Very Important Kid Snowmass, or VIK Snowmass, offers fun daily activities for kids and families. These activities are fun, free, and they're the perfect way for kids to apres-ski! On Sundays this winter, kids can create their own postcards to send to loved ones back home from 4:00–5:00 PM at the Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center. On Wednesdays at the Viceroy Snowmass, it's cookie decorating time from 3:30–4:30PM. On Thursdays at "Clowning Around", kids can enjoy face painting, balloon animals, henna tattoos, a magic show, interactive storytelling, and lots more.
