New Restaurants in Aspen

Looking to venture out and try something new? We have you covered. This list includes spots that are quickly becoming local favorites in the Aspen dining scene along with those that are up and coming:

1. Unravel Aspen

315 E. Hyman Ave., Aspen

What better way to start the day than with a great cup of coffee? Unravel is Gravity Haus’ newest coffee shop location that prides itself on coffee that is sustainably sourced from small Ethiopian farms and roasted “in-haus.” Their vision of “coffee for good” encompasses all parts of the process from choosing the farm that picks the cherries and deciding on fermentation methods, exporting, importing, roasting, and serving. This meticulous dedication is why their eco-friendly coffee tastes amazing and pairs well with their delicious breakfast and lunch menu. Locals and visitors alike can enjoy the casual, modern atmosphere and amazing eats and drinks.

2. Madame Ushi

415 E. Hyman Ave, Aspen

Madame Ushi Japanese Steakhouse and the adjacent Gala nightclub offer a unique dual-concept space for food and entertainment. The well-curated menu at Madame Ushi is the perfect place to enjoy dinner and creative cocktails after a full day of shopping, skiing, or hiking in the summer mountain sun. Housed in the former 7908 Supper Club space, the stunning atmosphere of this upscale Japanese restaurant boasts green velvet chairs, sleek, modern walls, and a beautifully crafted open bar to create an ambiance that is both welcoming and comfortable.

After hours, guests can make reservations to attend the exclusive Gala nightclub for a private high-end experience. Clientele can enjoy the lights, music, and intimate gathering space while fully immersing themselves in the amazing vibe. Truly a unique dual-concept experience, this is a notable space worth checking out.

3. Taikun Sushi

330 E. Main St., Aspen (in Bad Harriet inside the Hotel Jerome)

Originally started as a pop-up restaurant at the Marble Bar at the Aspen Residences, Taikun Sushi is back as a takeover restaurant at Bad Harriet. This New York based sushi restaurant markets itself as an “Omakase experience in the Rocky Mountains.” For the unfamiliar, Omakase means diners will relinquish control to the chef to design their dining experience. The menu is curated around seasonal offerings and an appropriate guided pairing of cocktails and sake. The high quality of ingredients and fish make for a memorable 9-course meal meant to invoke the charm and atmosphere of Aspen.

4. Almresi

219 E. Durant Ave., C5, Aspen

Local favorite Almresi is known for its deliciously simple and authentic specialties from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. After closing its doors during COVID, the restaurant re-opened this past winter; and after a brief hiatus, it will once again resume service in June.

Almresi is not only well-regarded for its delicious culinary offerings, but the design of the restaurant itself is noteworthy. The interior offers a feeling of old Europe with rustic wood tables, wood paneling, and quaint decor all directly imported from Germany and Austria. This attention to detail is further echoed in the attentiveness of the staff as well as the menu, all contributing to a true alpine experience.

5. Mawita

49 Wood Rd., Snowmass

Located on the top floor of the Collective Building in Snowmass Base Village, the menu at Mawita offers a variety of Latin-based cuisine that changes seasonally. The beautiful and colorful space with sweeping mountain views, a gorgeous double-sided fireplace, and a view of the hanging garden gives diners the opportunity to experience locally-sourced and globally-inspired food along with a menu of creative cocktails. Dining with children? The  Collective Game Lounge provides fun options for kids so families can all enjoy the fantastic menu and drinks while kids stay entertained.

6. Parc Aspen

620 E. Hyman Ave., Aspen

After its debut in the local favorite L’Hostaria’s vacated location, Parc Aspen quickly developed a reputation as one of Aspen’s best restaurants. Parc’s focus on revitalizing downtown Aspen’s dining options revolves around seasonally curated dishes with a Euro-French flair in a modern farmhouse setting. This amazing space offers three levels of dining with an extensive wine list.

The restaurant aims to be an affordable and family-friendly option that will also incorporate its location next to Rio Grande Park into its design. The location is also focused on creating an atmosphere with things for children to do so parents can also enjoy their meals while the kids are entertained.
