The
Snowmass Balloon Festival could not come at a better time of the year. Held during the weekend of September 13 – 15, 2013, the Snowmass Balloon Festival takes place during prime
leaf peeping time in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
Set against the golden aspen leaves, the colorful balloons will race through the Roaring Fork Valley during the Colorado Rat Race, put on a spectacular morning launch display, and glow like enormous lanterns during an evening concert event.
The first day of the
Snowmass Balloon Festival 2013 will feature the ever-popular and fun Colorado Rat Race. Approximately thirty hot air balloons will take part in the three hour competition. The balloon that makes it the farthest down valley in the designated three hours will claim the victory. Watch the balloons take off from
Snowmass and drift down valley from 6:30 – 10:00 am on Friday, September 13.
On the schedule for Saturday, September 14 is the first of two SnowMASS Ascension events. From 7:30 – 10:30 am, participating hot air balloons will rise into the morning sky in a synchronized launch. This is a perfect event for photographers who enjoy capturing the early morning light as it hits the brightly colored hot air balloons.
During the evening, the Snowmass Balloon Festival will host the Night Glow and Concert from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Held at the Snowmass Village softball field near the
Snowmass Club, bring the family and friends along to enjoy the concert and view the glowing hot air balloons.
On the last day of the Snowmass Balloon Festival, head over to Snowmass early for the final SnowMASS Ascension launch from 7:30 – 10:00 am. Bring along the camera, and snap some spectacular photos.
