Once summer begins, Snowmass doesn’t stop! From live weekly music concerts to Lost Forest adventures to rodeos, balloons, and Gold Medal-rated mountain biking terrain, there’s no way you’ll be bored when you spend the summer season in the valley.

Whether you’re a visitor to Aspen or a local in need of some fresh ideas, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite summer events to get you in the Snowmass groove.

Ongoing Summer Events in Snowmass

The Snowmass Free Concert Series takes place on the Fanny Hill Concert Stage in Base Village every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 pm during the summer months. You’ll be able to purchase beverages onsite, or order a delicious takeout picnic from one of the various Base Village restaurants. Be sure to bring a blanket or chairs, as well as warm clothing to stay cozy despite the post-sunset chill.

Snowmass Wildflower Walks are guided nature walks led by naturalists from the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES). They take place on Snowmass Mountain twice per day throughout the summer. You’ll follow your naturalist through meadows and forests along the family-friendly Snowmass Nature Trail, and learn about the diversity of wildflowers on Snowmass Mountain. Wildflower walks take place daily at 10am during the summer.

Snowmass Ice Age Discovery Walks are easy hikes near the site of the Snowmass fossil discovery. Led by naturalists from (ACES), you’ll hear stories and see props and photos that introduce you to the Ice Age Discovery Dig. Ice Age Discovery Walks take place daily at 10am during summer months.

Sunset Tuesdays are hosted by the Elk Camp restaurant from 4:00 to 7:30pm every summer Tuesday in Snowmass. You’ll take the Elk Camp Gondola to the restaurant for a farm-to-table-inspired dinner made with locally sourced ingredients. Numerous family-friendly outdoor activities are accessible from Elk Camp post-meal, including the Lost Forest and the Snowmass Bike Park.  

The Snowmass Rodeo takes place Wednesday evenings at 7pm at Town Park Station (formerly the Rodeo Lot) near the Snowmass Recreation Center. This long-standing weekly Western event includes live country music, rodeo horses, livestock, and plenty of family activities.

Snowmass June Events

The Annual VIDA Mountain Biking Clinic takes place in June at the Snowmass Bike Park. Riders of all levels are welcome; you’ll take advantage of the chairlifts to access Snowmass’ world-class MTB trail network. The immersive Flagship 2-day Clinic is designed to give you confidence and improve your form. Spots in this clinic are in high demand, so book your spot early. Should the event sell out, you can always purchase a Bike Park day pass and enjoy the trails on your own!

The Snowmass Doubles Volleyball Tournament runs at the end of June and spectators are welcome. Volleyball of the Rockies will present this boutique mountain volleyball tournament at Snowmass Town Park’s sand and grass courts.

Sign up for the annual Snowmass Tree-O takes place at various brewery locations throughout Colorado. The Snowmass event begins and ends at the Snowmass Mall.

Snowmass July Events

The Snowmass 4th of July Celebration will take place Sunday evening at the Fanny Hill stage. Wearing red, white, and blue apparel is encouraged while you enjoy listening to New Orleans band Miss Mojo. Snowmass will provide free sweets and glow-in-the-dark swag.

Support local youth by attending the Triple Crown World Series, a double elimination baseball competition for youth in the Valley. While games take place throughout the valley, Snowmass hosts the opening ceremonies and other spectator opportunities.

If you’re an athlete eager to push your limits, sign up for the annual Audi Power of Four Trail Run, a 50K Ultramarathon which covers all four Aspen Snowmass mountains. In addition, a 25k and a 10k race take place at Snowmass, with the 25k extending its course to Buttermilk Mountain.

Heritage Fire features a competition for chefs and farmers to create tasting menus that make use of traditional outdoor cooking.  The competition takes place in Snowmass Base Village, where you’ll also find libations from wineries and breweries to accompany the dynamic tasting menus that celebrate local food sourcing. 

The Snowmass Art Festival takes place in July at the Base Village Events Lawn at. Stop by for a free two-day juried art show, featuring original pieces by local and national artists. The Snowmass Art Festival selects a variety of artists, each of whom specialize in a particular medium such as painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, glass, wood, and more.  is surrounded by the world-class resort, beautiful mountains, countless recreational activities, and outstanding shops, restaurants, and hotels. While the festival itself is free, artwork is individually priced.

Snowmass August Events

Cidermass invites 20-30 different cider vendors to the Snowmass Mall. Purchase Cidermass tickets to enjoy craft cider tasting in the afternoon.

Snowmass September Events

While September isn’t quite the peak summer, we consider the JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience part of Snowmass’ annual summer event lineup. Over Labor Day weekend, enjoy three full days of top music performers. 

Another not-quite-summer-but-worth-mentioning annual event is the September  Snowmass Balloon Festival. The event includes three days of balloon launches, plus the spectacular Balloon Night Glow on Friday evening. Spectators are encouraged to drive, hike, or bike to Snowmass in order to watch the event.

Stop by the annual Snowmass Rendezvous Craft Beer Festival at the Snowmass Mall. While it used to be a craft-beer-only event, wineries, distilleries, and other retailers are joining in the fun. A welcome party, live music, and farewell brunch are just a few of the scheduled events during the weekend.
